Entertaining with Scully & Scully
Growing up, my mother enjoyed entertaining.
It somehow it felt effortless, although I’m sure it was not. I remember the glow of the house, going upstairs and watching my mom change into her pretty outfit and freshen her makeup in anticipation of guests arriving. It all felt special!
Now that I’m a mom, I try to honor her simple rules of entertaining:
Don’t be fussing in the kitchen when guests arrive. Plan ahead, welcome them, and get them a drink!
Don’t stand on ceremony. There is nothing more boring than a super stuffy dinner party. Have a little fun.
Never let anyone leave you hungry or feeling like you didn’t spend time with them. People won’t remember if the food was amazing (although it doesn’t hurt!) but they will remember how you made them feel.
